Founded in 1952 Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP) called the cradle of China optics is one of the largest institute of Chinese Academy of Science. Research in diffraction grating began in 1958, and the first ruling engine and gratings were manufactured in 1959.

“National Engineering Research Center for Gratings Manufacturing and Application” is a special research and production organization on diffraction grating (ruling gratings, holographic gratings and ion-beam gratings) and at the same time has a strong research and development capability on Spectral Instruments. It will become research and development base on diffraction grating and new spectrum of equipment in China.
